In the age group of 19 At the age of 19, she dropped Here, her debut song. This song received praise equally from critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of the year. This year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks that reached the heights of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. It was unique in that there were many who reacted to the interview she conducted with Rap-Up regarding her struggles to find love and embrace herself. Cara has earned a name for including messages on the importance of mental health, kindness and self-love within her songs. Her music is a reflection of her own personal struggles with mental illness and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, her album is described as chaotic and perfected. She claims she has grown through therapy, and encourages anyone else to seek out help whenever needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. She was given a guitar by her parents when she became a teenager and it sparked her love for music. At the age of 13 she began to cover songs she like on YouTube to demonstrate to viewers that she had the talent to be a singer and determined to pursue an opportunity as a musician. In fact, one of the covers Sweater Weather was able to get noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create music for her.
